River

River Tean

Approximately 1 mile across two stretches at Marchington Woodlands, with glides, riffles, gravel beds, and deep pools.

Back to waters

The River Tean is a tributary of the Dove, rising north of Cheadle and flowing south-east into the Dove near Uttoxeter. The club controls around one mile of water across two stretches at Marchington Woodlands.

It is a small, clear river with weed in places and a meandering course. Expect grayling and wild brown trout, with chub, dace, and perch in lesser numbers.

Stealthy approaches are advised, and shorter rods help beneath tree canopies. A historic fish kill upstream did not affect the club stretch.
